Starting back in 1995 when LP got his first
LP, he developed a small sound with Nate Dawg,
called North Star. After purchasing some cheap
equipment, they began mixing and recording audio
tapes for friends. Soon after that, the sound
was renamed to DV8, where people like Nabz, Joellie
Rottengun and Stevie Murda entered. Later on,
some local artist dubs were purchased and gave
the men a feel for being a real sound. However,
due to time and money constraints, the sound was
sold to a mutual friend and the group rethought
their situation.
A few years after that, Nate Dawg started playing
reggae, live on a Canadian College radio station,
while going to school. Meanwhile, LP got back
into making mixes and started creating CDs for
fun. After getting many requests to make reggae
and rap CDs, he and Nate Dawg decided to join
efforts and put time into creating CDs for their
new sound, Infinite Sound Movements. When returning
to the island, Rottengun entered the picture they
eventually agreed on renaming to Supatone Sound.
After a few years of making CDs and playing at
small events, Supatone kept growing, including
adding 2 other selectors, Stevie Murda and J Money
and a new MC: Madd Ghost.
Recently, the sound has slowed down as Rottengun
and J Money have stopped playing but remained
as part of the crew. Madd Ghost also keeps up
to date with Supatone events and is currently
working with Herbalist Sound. LP still makes CDs
to this day and now takes the lead as Supatone
main DJ. As Supatone continues to grow, we still
keep in mind all of our fans and praise God for
allowing us to do so.
